WORLD’S BEST KITE PROS ENJOY EXCELLENT CONDITIONS
The BETANDWIN KITESURF PRO competition started today with extreme strong winds of up to 35 knots and high wave conditions resulting in a competiton of high technical ability. The heats of the X-Moves were packed with acrobatic manoeuvres of extreme technical skill. The best riders in the world had to use all their senses and ability in order to control the strong southerly wind and waves which caused the riders plenty of complications. The strength of the wind meant that the Riders were competing with maximum power, increasing the level of risk of this extreme water sport. Spaniard Portas takes 1st Place on Day 1
The X-Moves Classification today of the BETANDWIN KITESURF PRO, which brought together the international elite of this sport, was won by two Spanish Riders: Cesar Portas in first place followed by Alvaro Onieva in second, with French Rider Etieene Lothe coming third. The radical English Rider Christian Holley came in at fourth place with some perfectly executed kite loops.
World Tour Leader Boese wins Women’s Competition
The female category of the X-Moves was also well represented by Spain, with the local favourite Angela Peral coming second. Kristin Boese from Germany took first place in the first of the three X-Moves classification of the BETANDWIN KITESURF PRO. The German Rider will have to demonstrate her manoeuvres again in the second X-Moves and again in the third on Sunday to determine if she holds first place.
